HackOps 2024
The Harbor Entrepreneur Center hosted HackOps 2024 from April 19–21, 2024. The event brought together 62 registrants, who formed four teams, with their projects evaluated by nine esteemed judges. Our first-place team, HarthHaven, created an application designed to help seniors easily find the most suitable living community based on their personal needs, preferences, and available services. "I developed this idea with my own mother in mind—wanting to make it easier for her to navigate senior living options. Through this process, I learned how to flesh out my ideas into an executable concept that a small-scale team could develop. It has been both fun and challenging." – Kei Cheng Harvest Initiative took second place with a platform featuring an organization dashboard for managers working directly with host homeowners, volunteers, and master gardeners. This structure facilitates food production on the host’s land, with the harvested produce distributed as follows: A percentage allocated to the host A percentage available for volunteers to purchase at a discount The majority distributed through local food banks Honorable mention went to Transforming Fitness Communities with Technology, a health and wellness app built using Squarespace.
The theme for HackOps 2024 was Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
